Dark Legacy
Chapter 14

Slowly the sun rises, washing the fluffy clouds in a warm shade of orange, in this strange plane called Mokai, and the sky still looks the same, as the surroundings most of the time. ChunLi sat in the pavilion taking a light breakfast and some tea.

A little distance away are Sho and Ryu, long lost father and son sparring with each other. The younger Hoshi couple had been staying here for a month or so, ChunLi was starting to miss her two babies. Although members of the Inner circle were helping them to run things. She guessed that now she knew how Miyuki felt about being separated from Ryu all those years ago.

It seems to her that she had seen neither Sakura nor Sean for the last two weeks. Then she remembered something, she had seen Iwa, Kumori and a few other Inner Circle members (those that actually live on this plane) dragged the two youngsters away. Iwa had mumbled something about letting the younger and older Hoshi couple be properly acquainted without disturbance.

“Thank you.” Miyuki’s voice came from behind her.
“I didn’t do much.” ChunLi said politely, helping Miyuki to put the platter of food onto the table. Miyuki joined her at the table, ChunLi poured her another cup of tea.

“You did a lot in helping my baby, somehow I feel that if you had not enter my baby’s life. He might have taken another path.” Miyuki smiled
“Life would have been different if our paths didn’t cross. It must have been hard for you?”

“Much. Before Sho and I came here, we were with the Inner Circle till they run out of ways to help Sho.”
“The worst was seeing Ryu secretly. It pains me to visit him yet not be able to tell him who I am, we missed a lot in his life.” Miyuki sighed.

“Have you considered moving back?” ChunLi asked out of the sudden. Sho and Ryu are still sparring. Sho was correcting Ryu’s Volume Seven moves at the same time.
“We tried going back to Earth plane once, but with Sho absorbing energy at an alarming speed, Geotao would have to attend to him every week. We can’t make her sacrifice her life like that, she has her own life to lead.”

“So what have you two being talking about?” Sho and Ryu had finally decided to join the two women for breakfast.
“Just the weather. Dear.” Miyuki smiled.

At this point there was another bout of awkward silence. Still both parties were not very much used to being together. After all, they were separated for almost thirty-six years. Of course they still felt a little awkward now and then as they search for topics that they could discussed on.

Times like this that the older Hoshi couple actually appreciated having ChunLi around. After all she was the one who knows Ryu’s personality well and taken it upon herself to make sure that Ryu does not miss the opportunity to be with his parents.

But then sometimes words get in the way when you spent almost thirty-six years apart. Sometimes words might not be necessary but words tend to avoid misunderstood feelings some point in time.

“So how was your sparring session?” ChunLi asked both Sho and Ryu.
“Excellent. It seems that our boy here had learnt much with just the book alone. No much mistakes in his postures or the incantations. I think it would not be much of a problem to teach him the Seiryoku Arashi.”

“No!” Miyuki said firmly
“Oh yeah right…. Don’t want history to repeat itself. Sorry dear.” Sho grinned as he picked up a rice cake.
“Oh, one thing bothers me. Don’t mind if I ask?” ChunLi started.
“Go ahead.”

“How did Volume seven ended up in the Shadowlaw Archives.”
“That? We gave it to your father and had him translate that copy into and burn the Japanese copy.”

“Aren’t you worried Daddy might pick up a few skills from the book?”
“Naw. Your father may be a megalomaniac but he’s not crazy enough to break the Inner Circle code. Sides We rather let the book fall into his hands than that of Gouki’s.” Sho shrugged.

“So when would you two decided to go back?” Miyuki suddenly spoke up, she expected the two young ones to leave them soon, so she might as well be prepared.

“When Iwa and Kumori decides to bring us back, mother. Why don’t you and father come back with us. I’m sure Sensei would be delighted to see the both of you.” Ryu suggested. He wanted them to see the kids. After all Sho and Miyuki are their grandparents.

“Gouken knows we’re here.” Miyuki added, her baby had to know.
“What?”
“The older members of the Inner Circle, the ten Grandmasters. They all know we’re here. They visited now and then to give reports on your progress.”
“They all knew? Why was I kept in the dark?”

“We had to keep you and the book away from Gouki. We had to make sure that he didn’t get the opportunity to make you walk the path he does. You were to be told when you reach Grand Master status or at least seven years after your children were born. Rose had being anxious for some reason.”

“The Satsui no Hado?”
“All high level practitioners of Shotoken go through that stage. The outcome is what matters. You either contain it or be control by it. The rules had always being so. The Nulling depended on One’s will. We didn’t mean to keep so much from you.”

Ryu was silent for a moment, unsure of how to react. He was brought here for a reason and now he’s partly sure why. But still he suppressed the anger of being kept in the dark about his parents.

What’s done was already done. No one could be blame for it. Still there was much to be said and much that wish to learn. He had gone through his life thinking he was an orphan and now he has the opportunity to be acquainted with his parents. So much to say yet he don’t know where to start.

“But how would I be able to see you both again once I go back?” Ryu asked, unwilling to let the opportunity slip by.
“We can bring you back in six months. Since Iwa has to come here every six months.” A voice joined in. Iwa and Kumori had came in, dragging a deer between the both them.

“Can I bring the children?”
“Nope. Still too young for this. If they could be brought here, you would have grown up here and never met her.” Kumori added. Pointing at ChunLi.

It wasn’t because his parents wanted left him on earth plane alone. More because they can’t bring him here until he was certain age. But then if they had brought him here when he was a child, he would never have met ChunLi. Seems like if some things were meant to be.

”Is there some way to counter this qi oddity?” Ryu asked, hoping that he could bring his parents back with him. Iwa and Kumori were silent as they thought through before giving a definite answer.

“There is no known way as far as we are aware off. Mastering the Arashi Seiryoku is one thing, unfortunately to use it against our kind tend to have some unfortunate results.” Iwa said quietly.

“Then why was it created?”
“Originally it was meant to counter the combination of Saigo Ken and Cat’s paw.” Sho said.
“Ryu. Its about time that you go back. Your children needs the both you.” Miyuki said.
“Six months tend to go back rather quickly.” Sho added.

Ryu sighed and nodded his head, at least he would have an idea of what he needed to say, and yet saying nothing feels kind of odd. He wanted to argue but don’t see much use in argument.

Seeing that things seem to be going well with Ryu, ChunLi, Miyuki and Sho. Iwa and Kumori left the premise again. Giving the two couples the opportunity to get ready to say their farewell. Tomorrow the lot of them is going to back home and now they have to go collect some people.
